AWID Members Gallery - Erika DoeringI approach a design project holistically -melding Industrial Design, Architecture and Interiors from the initial analysis of the client's needs to the final design resolutions and production management. There is a passion for color, pattern and materials throughout my work. In addition, I have a special interest in the environment. I emphasize environmental responsibility through design: from choices of materials and manufacturing processes as well as longevity and recyclability.
I earned a Masters degree in Industrial Design from Pratt Institute and have 15 years of work experience in Architecture and Interiors. I created Erika Doering Design in 1994 with a retail store design project and two private residences. Today I run 8 to 10 projects at a time with the help of a staff of three. About 80% of my work is residential and the balance is commercial and retail projects.
I will be teaching a green design course this fall semester at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York to both undergraduate and graduate Industrial Design students.
Proudly, I am a founding member of the Association of Women Industrial Designers. Erika Doering
