Tenure-Track Faculty Position
Assistant/Associate Professor, Industrial Design
Minimum Qualifications:
MA, MS, or MFA Degree in Industrial Design or closely related field, or a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design with equivalent professional experience in product design. Must be knowledgeable and have experience in a professional industrial design practice, in design education at the college level, and practical computer experience. Must possess the ability to communicate effectively with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community.
Desired / Preferred Qualifications:
Specific capabilities and evidence of success in the following areas will be considered desirable:
- Basic visual communication skills: perspective, rendering, and rapid visualization;
- College-level teaching of design
foundation courses, advanced level product design and development courses;
- Experience in computer-aided design;
- Record of achievement in design research;
- Professional experience as a consultant or staff designer.
Duties:
To teach lower and upper division courses in visualization skills, design foundation and design specialization studios. To advise students, develop curriculum, conduct design research, and actively participate in the governance process of the Department of Design, College of the Arts, and the University.
Salary Range:
Rank and salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Finalists will be requested to provide official transcripts from the institution granting their highest degree, Three recent letters of recommendation, an official CSULB SC-1 application form, and additional supporting materials as requested.

Industrial Designer
The Industrial Designer is an integral part of the Design and Development team initiative in creating innovative safety designs for our product line. Successful candidates for this position will possess both creative talent and mechanical knowledge. They will possess exceptional skills for developing sketches and forms and will have a natural talent for solving problems. This person will serve as a leader on the cross-functional product development team by designing consumer products from concept through production.
Qualified candidates for this position will possess 7-10 years experience creative design experience with consumer products, BFA or BS degree in Industrial Design, strong 3D modeling skills and rendering techniques and experience with plastic parts, injection molding and fabric integration.
