Product Designer

The Product Designer position will be responsible for the design and development of new products from initial concept to production as well as researching and testing new and evolving technologies.  This position requires a background in basic electronics and molded resins and the ability to transform a design concept into a manufacturable product. This person will be able to make an immediate impact with the implementation of a complete product design process from start to finish.

Responsibilities:

• Initiate the development and design of selected projects through the engineering design, modeling and tooling stages.
• Produce preliminary sketches and product renderings; determine the design feasibility, fabrication of mock-ups, and evaluation of the marketability of the concept.
• Ability to interact with outside ideation, engineering, QC/QA and manufacturing organizations
• Responsible for product definition, features, and functionality specs
• Proactively seek input for new product ideas from both inside and outside your team.
• Ability to clearly express ideas verbally, graphically and in writing
• Maintain knowledge of new design technology and design methods.
• Must do store visits and competitive shopping to maintain knowledge of what is in the market place.
• Must be creative and innovative.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design and/or Mechanical Engineering or Electro-Mechanical Engineering preferred
• 3-5 years of design / product development experience
• Asian manufacturing experience a must
• Strong Solid Works and rendering ability required
• Experience and ability with Illustrator and Photoshop a plus
• Excellent oral/written communication
• Must be detail-oriented and a proactive/self-starter with excellent problem solving and negotiation skills
• Ability to work well across groups with others (internally and externally)
• Ability to meet project deadlines and successfully manage multiple priorities
• Travel to Asia is required
• Strong analytical skills and a working knowledge of rotation, blow and injection molding processes a must
