AWID West Update

Hello to all AWID members from the Westcoast chapter! AWID West got off to a great start on April 26th with 8 attendees at our first meeting.

Pictured (left to right): Lisa Yong, Laura Taylor, Lynne Andonian, Gisela Schmoll, Betty Baugh, Nancy Perkins, Edina Tanovic, and Kristina Martinez.At this time AWID West has more than 50 women members from the greater Bay Area on our email list including designers from Frog Design, Philips Design, Gingko Design, and Ideo, as well as many other design firms, university faculty, and students. We have received a lot of encouragement and support from AWID members in NYC - thank you! AWID members here have been active contributors to the INCA newsletter, published by the IDSA Bay Area Chapter. The August issue of INCA was devoted to women in design. AWID members contributed the following articles:

Please check out the website for the complete INCA issue at http://idsa-sf.org/inca AWID meetings give women designers the opportunity to socialize together - an opportunity that may not be present at our workplace if we are the only woman designer on site. We've been meeting at cafes so we can share a good meal as well as conversation, ideas, and visions. AWID West meets every other month at alternating San Francisco and Peninsula locations. We meet the last Wednesday of the month at 7 pm.
